My spouse, Amy loves the water and nature. She loves to walk along the Detroit river and visits many of the nearby parks weekly. She has become really good at noticing things. Our kitchen window sill has rocks and leaves and acorns that she has found. One of the things that she has shared is the desire to slow down and notice. I am often rushing around but when we go walking in nature, she helps me notice. A turtle here, a bird there, a ship slowing moving in the distance. Taking the time to slow down is living in the present. It is easy to get busy as there are so many things that are pressing, excited and necessary. However, the frantic activity can leave one feeling drained and worn out. God calls us to a different kind of living where we are called to live in relationship with God and God's creation. So listen to the birds, the sparrow God cares about. Remember to breath and look around. Rest in the One who knows the hairs on your head. (Matthew 10:30)
Question: As you go through your day, find an image that you would like to ponder on. Where do you see God?
